When we give our lives over to the Lord - when we are born-again - all of our sins are washed away. The chains that bind us are broken and we are set free from sin. We are a new creation with a new heart that craves righteousness. Our old sin-loving self passes away and we begin to live a life dedicated to God and not ourselves. It's a personal miracle and a blessing gifted to us by the one who made us. There is nothing more beautiful than God's love for us. He became a human 2,000 years ago to take the punishment of our sin (as Jesus). He knew that we could never be perfect and free from sin, so He took that burden upon Himself and was crucified to pay our debt. Then He was buried and was resurrected; death could not hold Him. Now if we simply repent (turn away from sin, perpetually) and fully trust in Him, we will be born-again.
